The component transfers steering and wheel loads while maintaining a precise, stable fit with the wheel hub. Controlled casting quality, accurate hub interfaces and verified non-destructive testing are essential for reliable service under repeated heavy loads.
The Cast Steel Reach Stacker Steering Knuckle is produced from drawing-controlled chromium-molybdenum alloy cast steel. The part combines a large cylindrical bearing area, twin mounting arms and a long machined spindle in one load-bearing casting. Functional bores, journals, locating faces and threads are precision machined after normalizing to achieve stable alignment with the hub and mating steering components.
The main engineering challenge of the Cast Steel Reach Stacker Steering Knuckle is the relationship between the wheel-hub interfaces and the steering mounting datums. The Ø87H7 bore, Ø130g6 and Ø85g6 journals, Ø60H9 bore and the 215 ±0.05 mm datum relationship require controlled setup and finish machining. JG uses dedicated fixtures, calibrated gauges and CMM inspection to control coaxiality, perpendicularity and positional accuracy for a tight, repeatable hub fit.
Each production lot of the Cast Steel Reach Stacker Steering Knuckle follows a documented non-destructive testing plan. Magnetic particle testing is performed according to the approved customer or K-standard acceptance zones, with particular attention to the critical CB areas. Ultrasonic testing is performed according to EN 12680-2 Level 2 requirements. MT and UT reports are retained and supplied as required, and nonconforming castings are rejected or processed only through an approved disposition.

Strict mechanical property verification is required for every production batch. Cast test bars are controlled by lot and tested for tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and hardness. One test result is issued in the batch report and the retained sample remains available for traceability. Material chemistry, heat-treatment status and inspection records are linked to the casting batch.
The Cast Steel Reach Stacker Steering Knuckle is visually inspected for shrinkage, sand inclusions, harmful surface defects, subsurface porosity and machining damage. Machined surfaces must meet the drawing roughness requirements and remain free from burrs and sharp edges. Hub-fit journals, bearing bores, threaded areas and other functional interfaces are masked before painting so that coating does not affect assembly accuracy.
