Product Description

JG manufactures the Custom 7075-T6 Aluminum Lifting Arm 4 Axis CNC Machining. This long, curved structural component combines mounting holes, counterbores, threaded holes, slots, pockets, thin ribs and contoured edges in one precision-machined part. It is suitable for custom mobility systems, handling equipment, automation mechanisms and other OEM assemblies where low weight, strength and accurate alignment are important.

The finished component is approximately 416.65 mm long. Producing a 7075-T6 aluminum lifting arm of this length requires much more than simple profile milling. Material must be removed from several faces while the arm remains stable, flat and dimensionally consistent. JG uses planned roughing sequences, controlled clamping and balanced finishing passes to reduce residual-stress movement and machining distortion.

Why 4-Axis CNC Machining Is Important

Multiple features on this part are located on different faces and at different orientations. A 4-axis machining center allows the workpiece to rotate between operations while maintaining a consistent datum. This reduces repeated manual repositioning and helps preserve the relationship between counterbores, mounting holes, side holes, threads, slots and machined pockets. For a custom 4-axis CNC machined lifting arm, reliable feature-to-feature alignment directly affects assembly and motion performance.

JG develops dedicated fixtures for the long aluminum plate and controls clamping force so the workpiece is supported without being pulled out of shape. Rough machining leaves controlled stock for stress equalization before the final dimensions are completed. Critical holes and mating features are finished after the main pocketing operations, helping the 7075-T6 aluminum lifting arm maintain accurate spacing and repeatable assembly.

Manufacturing Challenges and JG Solutions

  • Long-part deformation: Balanced toolpaths and staged roughing help control bowing and twisting over the approximately 416.65 mm length.
  • Multi-face accuracy: 4-axis indexing maintains a common reference for holes, counterbores, threads, slots and side features.
  • Thin-wall and rib machining: Optimized cutting parameters reduce vibration, chatter and local deflection around lightweight pockets.
  • Hole-position consistency: Critical mounting features are inspected from established datums using CMM and precision measuring equipment.
  • Burr control: Edges, slots, counterbores and threaded holes are carefully deburred without rounding functional geometry.
  • Uniform appearance: Controlled shot blasting creates an even matte texture while precision surfaces and threads are protected as required.

7075-T6 Aluminum for High-Strength Lightweight Parts

7075-T6 aluminum offers a strong strength-to-weight ratio and good machinability for demanding structural components. Compared with many general-purpose aluminum grades, it is well suited to parts that must remain lightweight while carrying mechanical loads. JG verifies incoming plate material and maintains traceability when requested. Each Custom 7075-T6 Aluminum Lifting Arm 4 Axis CNC Machining is manufactured according to the customer's drawing and revision requirements.

Shot-Blasted Surface Finish

After CNC machining and complete deburring, the part receives a shot-blasted finish. Shot blasting removes minor machining sheen and creates a consistent matte appearance across the large curved surface and recessed pockets. Process control is important because excessive blasting can affect sharp edges, small threads and precision holes. JG protects or rechecks functional features so the shot-blasted aluminum lifting arm remains clean, burr-free and ready for assembly or a subsequent coating process specified by the customer.

Manufacturing Process

  1. 7075-T6 aluminum plate preparation and material verification
  2. Fixture design and datum planning for the long curved component
  3. 4-axis CNC rough milling and stress-balanced material removal
  4. Precision pocket, slot, counterbore, drilling and thread machining
  5. Finish profiling, chamfering and thin-wall feature machining
  6. Manual and mechanical deburring of all accessible edges
  7. Shot blasting for a uniform matte surface
  8. CMM and dimensional inspection of critical features
  9. Final cleaning, visual inspection and protective packaging

Quality Control

Quality checks are performed throughout production, not only after the final operation. Raw plate condition, fixture location, in-process dimensions and finished geometry are monitored to keep the long arm stable. CMM inspection can verify critical hole locations and feature relationships, while gauges and calibrated measuring tools check counterbores, thicknesses, threads and overall dimensions. The Custom 7075-T6 Aluminum Lifting Arm 4 Axis CNC Machining is visually inspected after shot blasting to confirm a uniform surface with no obvious scratches, stains, embedded media or remaining burrs. Material certificates, dimensional reports and RoHS documentation are available when required.
